Ah, the age of revisionist "history". The term "Cold War" was used to distinguish the conflict from the normal "hot wars" that mankind has engaged in periodically because it was *not* a peace like the Pax Romana or Pax Britannica.

People did take advantage of circumstances in this era like they have in every region in every era but that's a far cry from the screed you wrote. In point of fact -- as verified by the populations who were subjected to it at the time (Hungarian Revolution, anyone?) and after the Soviet Union crumbled -- the government of the Soviet Union was evil. This simple fact was self-evident to anyone who looked at the facts of the measures the USSR used to keep people in against their will while the USA is being vilified by woke warriors for keeping people out unless they follow the law and established procedures for lawful immigration.

I am living for the time being in New Zealand, a typical colony. Many things feel not right and the people always make the crime of colonialism vague by saying every nation had committed violence. I know Chinese has not been like every nation. Your writing makes it clear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrmMZaGYt14&list=PLRK8rq0865CJPlp2PiJI1oTV-qhOqBc1v&index=9
